Mr. Melvin Spriggs Sr. is currently a Wargame Program Analyst assigned to Headquarters, USAF, Pentagon. Mr. Spriggs grew up in Hammond, Louisiana and graduated from Hammond HS in 1993. He immediately entered the US Air Force and excelled as a Munitions Systems Specialist. Within 3 years, he was a Missile Maintenance Crew Chief. He continued to serve in leadership roles in Munitions Maintenance, Program Management, and Resource Management. His career took him around the world, including Japan, Turkey, Germany, Korea, and Africa to
name a few. After serving 22 years and with the steadfast support of his wife and two children, Melvin honorably retired as a Senior Noncommissioned Officer in 2015.

His military and civilian awards include the National and Korean Defense Service Medals, Air Force Meritorious Service, Accommodation and Achievement Medals, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal,
Air Force Good Conduct Medal and Civilian of the year Award. He also attained a degree in Munitions System Technologies and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business.

For his service to our country, the mayor of Hammond, La declared 19 December as an official holiday and awarded Mr. Spriggs a key to the city. After military life, he started and operated a contracting business in La. He also was Director of Operations for a startup cattle ranch and
started the company from ground up and increased it to 50 head of Angus cattle. Mr. Spriggs then moved to Virginia in 2018 to work as a government civilian.

For the past two decades, Melvin has coached and mentored young men and women in sports, civics, and life skills. He devotes his time to make sure young men learn the life lessons needed to survive and thrive in their future phases of life.
